Nwobodo Sochima Chisom, professionally known as Sochy, is a multi talented music artist, encompassing the roles of a singer, songwriter and dancer. Originally from Enugu state in the southeastern region of Nigeria, Sochy was born and raised in Lagos. His educational journey saw him attending Peculiar Treasures for his primary school, Nigerian Navy Secondary School and Baptist Academy for his secondary education. Later, he pursued a degree in Civil Engineering at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT).
Early Life:
Sochy is from a family of five siblings and shares a special connection with his twin. His affinity for music was evident from a young age, inspired by prominent artists such as Plantashun Boiz, Westlife, Backstreet Boys and P-Square. Sochy’s innate talent for singing and dancing became apparent early on, although he chose to enter the music profession only in 2019, following his completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Before venturing into music professionally, Sochy honed his skills through enrollment in various art schools, including PEFTI, Skillfulevite and Tenstrings. During his university days, he was recognized as a comedian for the church’s NFCS (Nigerian Federation of Catholic Students) and served as the director of the theater group within NFCS, organizing numerous events. Sochy embarked on his musical journey in 2018 when he enrolled at Tenstrings to study artist development. He released his initial singles, “Rara” and “Ohema” in 2019, marking the beginning of his music career. While these songs were a commendable start, Sochy remained dedicated to refining his craft. In 2020, he unveiled “Falling,” followed by “Can’t Get Enough” in 2021 and “Parachute” in 2022, demonstrating consistent growth and development as an artist. Sochy is committed to delivering more chart-toppers in the future.
Career:
Sochy’s career began to take shape with the release of his debut singles, “Ohema” and “Rara” in 2019. He continued to build on this foundation by launching “Falling” in 2020, “Can’t Get Enough” in 2021 and “Parachute” in 2022. In addition to his music, Sochy has also ventured into songwriting, contributing to the works of fellow artists in the industry. His commitment to his craft is evident in his consistent evolution and a promise to release more hit songs in the future.
